    Selvig Wins Top Award

    Northumberland Today

Economic Development efforts in Port Hope have been recognized by the Ontario East Economic Development Commission, awarding Judy Selvig the Economic Developer of the Year Award.

The award recognizes a commitment to excellence and significant contribution to the Economic Development profession.

Selvig received the award in acknowledgement of her extensive efforts and achievements related to Port Hope’s economic development, including the IDEAHUB Business Incubator, the Municipal Business Park and the numerous development and expansion initiatives she has spearheaded for business in our community, said Port Hope’s chief administrative officer. Selvig’s involvement in key committees locally, provincially and nationally brings a well-rounded perspective and her ongoing commitment to a strong communications strategy in promoting Port Hope has strengthened the community’s economic outlook.

“Judy does an excellent job of supporting the development of Port Hope and promoting our community as a great place to live, work and play,” Councillor Karen O’Hara, Chair of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee said.

“Moving forward with development strategies is a particular challenge in difficult economic times and we are delighted to see Judy’s many successes being recognized with this award,” added Mayor Linda Thompson.

“Port Hope is a growing community with great potential; the excellent leadership that Judy brings to our Economic Development initiatives bodes well for our future,” Todd said.

Several members of Council and Staff were in attendance as Selvig received her award at the Ontario East Municipal Conference in Kingston.
