President and CEO of GE Canada To Speak In Cobourg

February 1, 2006

The Northumberland Manufacturers' Association, in partnership with Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation, is pleased to announce the launch of its 2006 Speaker Series. On Friday, February 10, the President and CEO of GE Canada, Elyse Allan, will speak on Competing and Succeeding in the 21st Century.

"We are thrilled that Ms. Allan will be participating in this exciting initiative," said Steve Rosa, Plant Manager of GE Plastics and President of the Northumberland Manufacturers' Association. "She is a very inspiring leader with demonstrated business success from whom we can all learn a great deal."

Ms. Allan was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Canada in October 2004 with a mission to grow GE's businesses in Canada and strengthen the Company's leadership in the areas of technology, media, and financial services. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Allan

worked with numerous GE businesses -- such as energy, aircraft engines, and plastics -- and was President and CEO of the Toronto Board of Trade.

The seminar is the first of six to be held this year. The Series will feature high-profile speakers -- from a variety of industries -- who will discuss challenges, as well as opportunities, for Canadian businesses.

"The Northumberland CFDC is pleased to support the launch of this speaker series," said Wendy Curtis, assistant general manager. "Business, no matter what size or industry, can benefit from

hearing the perspectives and winning strategies of other organizations in their quest to thrive in today's competitive market. Hearing the approaches taken by other companies can help us within our own and we see this initiative as helping to support and strengthen business across the county."

The seminar will be held on Friday, February 10 from 7 to 9 a.m. at the Best Western in Cobourg. The price of admission (which includes a breakfast buffet) is $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
