NMA Wins
Community Economic Development Award
April 12, 2006
The Northumberland Manufacturers’
Association is the proud recipient
of this year's Community Economic
Development Award presented by the
Association of Ontario Community
Futures Development Corporations
(OACFDC).
The NMA was nominated by the Northumberland
CFDC for its contributions to the
local manufacturing sector –
including an annual conference,
strategic focus groups, and a speaker
series featuring industry leaders
from across Canada.
"The Northumberland CFDC
is extremely proud of the efforts
of the association in continuing
to promote a collective vision of
manufacturing excellence across
Northumberland," said Wendy
Curtis, Assistant General Manager.
“It's no surprise that these
outstanding manufacturers have produced
stellar results.”
The selection panel examined several
criteria and awarded points for
excellence, quality, and innovation.
The judges also favoured projects
that had a clear and measurable
impact on the community and could
be replicated in other regions to
promote economic development province-wide.
“We are pleased to be recognized
as a model for community economic
development,” said Steve Rosa,
President of the NMA. “Our
philosophy has always been to share
best practices and to work in partnership
with other manufacturing associations
across Ontario.”
Representatives of the NMA will
travel to Cornwall to accept the
award at a special ceremony on June
26th.
