$180,000+ Paid Out to Local Manufacturers

The recent Tri-Asscoation Manufacturers Initiative wrapped up paying out at total of $180,000+ to Northumberland Manufacturers.  16 local manufacturers applied and were approved for funding.   Through the course of this program 89 displaced workers or interns were hired.  “This was an excellent program for our manufacturers here in Northumberland County” says Dan Ross, the president of the NMA, “It allowed many of our manufacturers to upgrade the skills of their workforce through training and provided incentive to bring back workers.”

This funding was available to the manufacturing members of the Kawartha, Northumberland and Quinte Manufacturers’ Associations. The program was designed to pay 50% of the approved third-party net training costs or provide a rebate of $1,000 per intern hired for a minimum of three months.  This funding program closed on March 31, 2011.   This program was supported by funds from Federal Government through the Fed Dev vehicle.

NMA Golf Tournament A Success

In June, the NMA hosted their annual golf tournament at Ashbrook Golf Course.  Although there was the threat of rain, the day turned out to be beautiful.  All teams had fun at the event and it was an excellent opportunity for some networking with local manufacturers.  Golfing was followed by a steak dinner and prizes.  Thanks to everyone who participated in the golf tournament this year.
