Dan Ross (President)
Continuous Improvement Leader, SABIC Innovative Plastics
Dan Ross graduated from Engineering Physics at McMaster University in 2002. Dan started work with a large defense contractor in a Project Management/Engineering role on the F/A-18 Display upgrade pre-production program. After 2 years, Dan then moved into a Process Engineering role implementing Lean tools as the project moved into production. Dan joined SABIC Innovative Plastics in Cobourg in 2006, as a process engineer and innovation leader. Dan is the continuous improvement leader and is also responsible for the Center for Manufacturing Innovation (CMI) at the Cobourg site which conducts collaborative research with local Universities in Ontario. Dan lives in Cobourg with his wife and 3 children.
Brad Robertson (NMA Past President)
Energy & Environmental Manager, Esco
Raised in Iroquois, Ontario, Brad graduated from Queen’s University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. After 5 years working as a design engineer for a military and communications electronics supplier, Brad joined Esco Port Hope in 1992 as a design engineer. From 1997 onward, Brad has held a number of roles on the Esco team including manager of Facilities and Equipment (capitals and maintenance), Technical (manufacturing engineering/QA) and Continuous Improvement (Lean). Since 2008, Brad has split responsibilities with corporate QVS (Lean) and Sustainability files for Esco and local Port Hope Energy and Environmental roles.
Doug Snoddon (1st Vice)
Manager, Special Projects, Unitrak Corporation
Doug started his career in accounting in 1969 and joined UniTrak Corporation in 1980 as Comptroller. He is currently Vice President responsible for ISO 9000 Quality system, Initiatives and implementation of High Performance manufacturing. He is also managing Director of UK subsidiary, Research & Development, Overall production, finance and member of the management team. In addition to his UniTrak responsibilities, Doug is the Treasurer of the Alziemers society of Durham and auditor of the Oshawa legion. Doug was raised in Oshawa and is currently residing in Courtice with his wife of 36 years. He and his wife have 4 children and 6 grand children.
Doug Jensen (Secretary / Treasurer)
Manager, Cameco Corporation, Fuel Division
Doug manages the Cobourg operation of Cameco Corporation’s fuel manufacturing division. Prior to his work at Cameco, Doug spent over 10 years with General Motors in Oshawa providing leadership through the use of lean manufacturing tools; techniques that he continues to utilize and grow with the team at Cameco. A graduate of Queen’s University’s Mechanical Engineering program, Doug also has experience in quality management, reliability engineering and machine automation; mostly gained through progressive positions held in the automotive industry.
Wendy Curtis (Director)
Executive Director, Northumberland CFDC
Wendy is a graduate of Queens University School of Business with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree. She enjoyed a successful career in consumer products marketing with Pillsbury Canada where she developed and drove volume and profitability growth on several of the company’s key business units. Wendy left the organization as Director of Trade Marketing before relocating with her family to Mexico City, Mexico. Since her return to Canada in 1996 she has been active in the community through leadership on several different community Boards and initiatives and is currently the Executive Director of the Northumberland Community Futures Development Corporation (CFDC) where she is responsible for the day-to-day operations in building community capacity across Northumberland County. Her leadership at Northumberland CFDC has resulted in record gains in lending, business services and expansion of community economic projects and the CFDC has since been recognized through several municipal and provincial awards of excellence.
She is currently an active participant in numerous community projects including, the Northumberland Manufacturers Association – Board of Directors, Northumberland Youth Advisory Council – Steering Committee, Town of Cobourg- Economic Advisory Committee and Northumberland County Poverty Reduction Committee. Wendy was also the Founding Co-Chair of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland Women Build, Founding Co-Chair of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation Annual Gala, Founding Chairman of the Town of Cobourg Municipal Safety Task Force and the Past-Chairman of the Cobourg Public Library Board of Trustees among others. She is a multiple recipient of the Town of Cobourg civic awards (2003, 2005) and in 2007 was named the Northumberland Business Woman of the Year by Northumberland Publishers.
Wendy Gibson (Director)
Economic Development Officer, Town of Cobourg
Wendy is a native of the Village of Baltimore but started her career with the Alberta Government, Department of Education in 1976. After 9 years, she returned to Ontario where she worked in the manufacturing sector as a Human Resources Generalists and attained the Provincial designation as “Certified Human Resources Professional”. After a plant closure in 1992, Wendy took a role in Economic Development and currently manages the Community Development Office in the Cobourg Business & Tourism Centre. She earned a “Certificate in Economic Development” from the University of Waterloo and received her designation as “Business Retention & Expansion Consultant” through Business Retention Expansion International. She is a Director on the Lakeshore HR Association, as well as Ontario East Economic Development Commission. She lives in Cobourg with her husband of 36 years and has two children and five grandchildren.
Judy Selvig (Director)
Economic Development Officer, Municipality of Port Hope
Judy served as the Manager of the Port Hope & District Chamber of Commerce for fourteen years prior to accepting the position of Economic Development Officer for the Municipality of Port Hope. She has excellent organizational and team development skills and served as a dedicated volunteer for numerous Port Hope festivals and business committee events. Judy currently participates and works with several business organizations including the Heritage Business Improvement Area, Agricultural Advisory Committee, Workforce Development Board, Physician Recruitment & Retention and several Economic Development committees. A lifetime area native, Judy resides locally with her husband and three teenage children.
Pat Jossinet (Director)
Plant Controller, CpK Interior Products
Pat started her career with Price Waterhouse, obtaining her designation as a Chartered Accountant, after graduating from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. After several years in public accounting, in Toronto and then Peterborough, she joined Johnson & Johnson Medical Products where she held several positions, including Manager of Marketing Finance. After J&J moved to Toronto, Pat joined Textron Automotive, now CpK Interior Products, in Port Hope, where she has been the Plant Controller since 2003. Born and raised in Ottawa, Pat currently lives in Port Hope with her husband and two teenage children.
